ASCEND Design Sprint
ASCEND Design Sprint is the connection between other departments and the design team. With help and guidance during the time working with ASCEND, I was able to provide way of work to the organization.
The idea of is is to solve problem of 'How can we work better'?
We used to ...
Have 2 Weeks Sprint
A lot of ad-hoc tasks coming back and forth during Sprint
Wait for UX wireframe to complete in high-fidelity until we can start designing user interface
Communicate pretty less with other teams.
From this problem, we faced...
Complains and outcomes that we didn't meet requirements.
The days we become the design team with lack of happiness and inspiration
Designers cannot understand business clearly.
Slow working process that could impact company's working flow
How ASCEND design sprint was found?
Design Sprint is Supposed to:
Be joint of communication
Make design team understand better of what they're about to achieve
Help business understand how the project is done
Keep project's stakeholders on the same page
Help product and tech team build product together even more
structure of ascend design sprint
The ASCEND Design Sprint is reduced to a week to boost activeness to the team. Even if the timeline for each task is shorter, process and how to achieve it, is much clearer.
The designers supposed to spend a day to 'empathize' each project; see competitors, look up to best practices, find references and identify business objectives and user understandings. With this process, designer are able to understand better at what they about to achieve and align with business team in checkpoint stage at the end of the day.
Later on, during week the designers will be working on UX and interface together, no more wait for each one to be done like waterfall. And when the design is mostly pictured clearly, the prototypers can start prototyping along with sync-up with other teams.
Lastly, we will use that prototype for testing to see if the design we have made is worked or not. This step will help we see the potential of the design we have made before they launched and reduce ad-hoc and quick fixes after launch too.
